Also known as the swiss cheese plant, this beautiful tropical foliage was one of the first plants I learned to identify by its scientific name as a child. My Grandpa Bill would give me a quarter for every plant I could properly identify in the garden. A lesser-known fact about this plant is that you can eat the fruit it produces! The texture of a fully ripened fruit is similar to that of a banana and it has a tropical flavor that is often described as a combination of mango, coconut, and pineapple.
